CEREMONY AND VENUE | THE ESSENTIALS
Mrs Murdoch has created the ultimate Ceremony & Venue guide to ensure you find the perfect fit for your Big Day.
Your venue locations are going to be at the top of your Big Day decision-making list, with the exception of your dress of course. Although you may already think you have this sorted, we have created your essential checklist before you sign on the dotted line.
| Is your venue available on your chosen date?
| How many guests can be accommodated?
| Can you provide your own music?
| Can you decorate the site using your own florist, stylist?
| Can your guests throw rose petals, rice or confetti?
| Is there a room for you to get ready in?
| Are there time restrictions?
| Is your location accessible by public transport and/or are there parking facilities?
| Who will officiate the ceremony? Depending whether you choose a religious or civil ceremony, you will need to meet with your relevant officiant to discuss the details i.e. price, dress code, vows etc.
| Once you have confirmed and been quoted by your officiant, be sure to ask for a fee schedule to confirm exactly what their charge covers so you have all details in writing.
| Be sure to meet your officiant in person before the Big Day. You want to make sure they are calm, professional, well spoken and knowledgeable.
| Be clear on your wording for the ceremony. Some officiants will ad-lib so make sure you clarify if you want them to stick to concise wording.
| Is the venue available on your chosen date?
| Can the venue cater to the size of your wedding?
| Does the price suit your budget?
| Do they have an in house caterer or can you choose to bring in your own?
| Are you able to customise the menu?
| Does the venue have a liquor license?
| Are you able to provide your own alcohol?
| How much is the initial deposit and do they have a payment schedule?
| Is there accommodation available or is there accommodation close by?
| Is there parking available?
| Is there a dance floor or an alternative option for dancing?
| Are there time constraints and if so what is the fee if you run over time?
| Before going to scout venues be sure you have an idea of your budget, concept, style and guest numbers.
| Make sure you get a detailed package, outlining exactly what is included and all associated costs. This will prevent you from getting hit with any last minute costs.
| Make sure you get everything in writing, including their cancellation policy and ensure everything discussed and agreed upon is detailed in the contract.
